Ecclesiastes 7:1-4 A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth. It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart. Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is ma... [read more]
add to discussionRay Comfort gives tribute to Jim Jones while pleading to readers of his website Athiest Central to repent and put their faith in Christ: His passing was a reminder that this life is “the shadow of death” (see Psalm 23:4), and as the Bible says, the whole of humanity sits in that dark shadow (see Matthew 4:16). They are not going anywhere. They are just sitting, waiting for it to come to them. How unspeakably thankful I am that “Light has dawned.” For the Christian, the shadow has gone. The light of the glorious gospel of Christ banished it. Death has lost its sting ... [read more]

add to discussionPastor G. Mark Sumpter of Faith Presbyterian Church in Grants Pass tells of the relationship he had with Jim Jones in this moving letter addressed to Jim’s wife and kids: Dear Kelly, Willow and Holly, God brought me into contact with your beloved husband and wonderful father in the summer of 2006. He caught my eye as he was ministering to people with gospel literature in a crowded area at Riverside Park in Grants Pass. I watched him with great interest. He was that soldier, with satchel strapped to his side, carrying munitions, the truth, to those in the battlefield of the world. Whe... [read more]
add to discussionSaturday, 8 November, 2008 As I sat in my study this afternoon, I couldn’t help but notice the fact that way out across the western skyline there was a band of long dark storm clouds, this is never an encouraging sign when you do street evangelism. So I quickly logged onto the internet and checked out the weather, and all this did was confirm my thoughts, we were in for a wet night in Brisbane city. Since rain was inbound, I thought it wise to go check the back of my car to see if we had umbrellas and a tarp to cover our stuff. Wet weather evangelism, never fun, but the gospel will still... add to discussionWell after almost a year we were finally able to have a few campus meetings at Yuba College! Since the court case has begun we have been there twice and praise God that even though the campus officals are now recording us we have had open access with no resistance! Last month a few of us were granted “permited speech” and we were given a free speech area on the campus of Yuba College in Marysville, CA. Thanks to all the support we have been granted through the Alliance Defence Fund we have made great progress in being able to proclaim the Gospel on our local community campus. ... [read more]
add to discussionFriday, 24 October, 2008 Sun, sand, surf and sin… that is what makes up the Gold Coast each year when the Indy carnival roles into town. For the past few years I have gone down to witness on the Gold Coast during this time, and have found it to be a good place to tell of the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. While the atmosphere is talk and the hearts of men evil, I have found that the light of the gospel shines all the brighter when surrounded by the love of sin. This year people were upset on the Gold Coast, for a tradition has been that women would flash their breasts at people,... [read more]
add to discussionThe podcast of this week’s radio program Gospel, Gifts, & Grace is now available for download. This week we talked about the recent conference for north Florida’s Sovereign Grace Ministries churches called Celebration 2008. The theme of conference was Romans 6 and freedom in Christ. Saturday, 18 October, 2008 The night was going to be a good one, and I was really excited about the prospect of witnessing to the lost tonight, however, I did have one concern, and that was the fact that we were down on preachers tonight. But, my rest is in the Sovereignty of God, and the knowledge that He will provide. I handed out tracts on my way to King George square, and it was real encouraging to see many people reading gospel tracts and then passing them on to their friends to read also. Once in King George we met for a time of prayer and bible reading as per usual, and then we hea... [read more]
